I grew up near Vancouver, BC and am now based between both Montreal and Vancouver. Writing has been a part of my life since my young childhood, but I began working on my first novel in middle school after developing the early concepts for a fantasy world. That world quickly developed into its own universe filled with languages, cultures and stories. Ever since then, I've been working on different projects from fantasy, sci-fi and contemporary novels to film and graphic novel scripts and world-building documents.
Whether they were fantasy novels, Spider-Man comics or Star Wars movies, I found characters that I could relate to and learn from in the media around me and it became my goal to tell stories other people could see themselves in as well. I can't wait to share more of my stories with the world and continue learning from all the amazing writers out there!
What else have I been up to?
Beyond writing, I also enjoy making music. My main instrument is trombone and I'm currently studying classical tenor trombone at McGill University. I've had the opportunity to perform with many different types of ensembles from pit orchestras for operas and musicals to jazz bands with local friends.
I also enjoy writing and recording songs on my guitar when I have the time and I've dabbled in a few other instruments as well though learning them is still a work in progress. One of my favourite activities is finding examples of the music characters in my stories are listening to. Sometimes that means scouring through YouTube, other times that means writing the songs myself.
Digital Art
A few years ago I decided to begin learning how to draw as a way to visualise scenes and characters. I've still got a lot to learn but I've been enjoying experimenting with different styles and I hope to continue improving my skills over time. I've recently started dabbling in drawing and writing comic strips with the long-term goal of releasing a graphic novel.
Here are a few examples of what I've made so far:
This is a portrait I did of my friend for her birthday. Shout out to Emilie for letting me share it!
This is a design for a post-apocalyptic themed Dungeons & Dragons character I used in one of my campaigns.
This was a result of me bring inspired by the new Superman movie and deciding to draw him as his younger self.
